another lie that we have been told often about emotions is that “emotions are not logical”.
but, emotions are logical.
(at least for most adults)
i asked chatgpt to define “logic”.
now explain to me why are emotions not logical.
if i eat the food that you have kept for yourself and waited a day to eat. and you get angry.
it is true that by logic – you/i can easily buy the food for you and there is nothing to be angry about.
but it is also true by logic that by eating what you have saved for yourself, i've disrespected you. i’ve also caused disappointment because you had looked forward to it and then when you want to have it, it is not there.
and if i continue to do this 5 times. you will continue to feel the same. there is consistency. there is clear reasoning.

yes, emotions do not follow universal logic.
but emotions follow an internal personal logic based on values, beliefs and experiences.
the reason why emotions gets labeled as “illogical” is because
- lack of awareness from the person who feels it
- lack of interest from the other person to find out
eg. on some days, i step on your feet and you get angry. but on some days, i step on your feet and you are okay.
it is seemingly “illogical” but if you have the awareness to let me know when is it ok or not ok to step on your feet, then it once again follow a form of logic. eg. on days that you wear your fav shoes. or even on days you are not in a good mood.
i mentioned “most adults” because adults have the ability to build on awareness AND to listen to the logic of another person knowing that it may differ.
kids do not have the awareness and competency in articulation. and most of them certainly do not have the understanding that people can be different from them and holds different values, beliefs and experiences.
“most adults” because there are some adults who lack that ability because of neurological reasons.
and of cos there are just pure ass who don’t give a fuck to learn and hear the logic of others.
