i remember being behind my computer reading blogs after blogs.
i don’t even need to be super close to the person, but i enjoy reading his/her blog, learning more about him/her and what’s happening.
there were comment section but most post dont receive comments. and if there were, it requires some effort to log in, etc.
then social media came about. and that is almost the death of personal sharing. many of the blog posts were converted into social media post.. the writing gets shorten.
liking and commenting is easy now and suddenly it seems like our post are being approved or disapproved. it brings out the people pleaser in many. many start sharing and writing what others like to see and read.. because there’s some kick in seeing the reactions and engagements. and also so much easier for people to comment – pleasant and unpleasant things.
then there’s “stories” which last 24 hrs.
go to a personal instagram account and chances are last post is months ago. no one is interested in reading longer posts. the kick of stories after stories became the norm. 15 seconds per story. 30 seconds per reel.
who has 5 mins to read about someone’s else life? who has 15 mins to write and share about themselves?
relationships and connection on social media have become transactional. and it’s sad.
im craving more personal sharing and connections through social media. and i want to change the way “business” is done on it. not all post is shared as a step to make you buy something.
send me a dm to let me know you resonate because, a “like” does not create connection. ❤️
