I’ve always enjoyed writing but am also very conscious and cautious because I feel that I have bad grammar and I tend to have a lot of typos.
Sometimes I don’t vet my writing. And even if I do, I still end up with a lot of mistakes.
I just really like to write. I just enjoy that process of writing, but I don’t enjoy the process of making it a professional. In September last year, I shared about how in the world of AI, there is an increase in appreciation for bad English, bad grammar – basically imperfect writing. Having said that, I only got it in my head back then and it didn’t land on me fully.
But I think it is finally landing. I’m feeling motivated about writing more.
There is not a day that I can get by without seeing ads or someone sharing about using AI to
- create social media post
- write articles
- Generate video scripts
- Create courses
Basically replace the creating process by a human.
Initially I was getting annoyed and pissed about how ridiculous that people are proud of using AI to do so. Or how out of integrity it is to use AI to create causes to sell.
I felt disgusted.
But I had a moment today that felt like what I thought previously finally landed, and I felt something lighted up within me.
I felt that my “weaknesses” and “shortfall”now became a unique selling point – something that will stand out from the sea of perfect creations.
I believe there are people who want creations that are more human and have a human touch to it, something that is imperfect and comes from a real human experience.
Please don’t get me wrong, I’m not against using AI nor technology to make life easier. In fact, what I have always thought about decades ago is now possible. I used to imagine having something connected to my brain such that it can capture my thoughts and translate them into notes or words. Perhaps there was something back then, but it wasn’t something easily accessible to just anyone. But today, there is more than one way to do something similar.
Personally I use AI to bounce ideas with me and trigger me to think deeper and wider. I also use technology to make my writing process easier. For example, I use the audio recording function in my Apple notes to help me write the first draft or just to capture my ideas and concepts before I edit and refine them on my own.
I do not want AI or technology to create on my behalf, I want to use them as a tool for efficiency.
With this fuel, I am excited to experiment turning the 86477436557 ideas and half written stuff in my Google drive into proper consumables.
